This privacy policy is intended to describe the current behavior of the iSpeakEnglish app and its learner-facing features. If the app later adds analytics tools, cloud account systems, new payment processors, new AI providers, or other new data flows, this policy should be updated before release of those changes.
What information the app may collect
Depending on how a learner uses the app, iSpeakEnglish may process information such as:
- Name, email address, native language, learning goals, reminder time, and learner preferences entered into the app.
- Lesson progress, streak data, completed lesson history, selected tutor, and related settings.
- Typed lesson replies, spoken lesson replies, and generated speech transcripts.
- Optional selfie images if the learner chooses to use the souvenir image feature.
- Device-permission status and notification preferences needed to deliver app functionality.
What stays on the device
In the current app implementation, learner profile details, progress markers, streak information, reminder preferences, and similar configuration data are stored locally on the learner’s device using Apple platform storage.
Bundled lesson content, reading content, and packaged speech resources are included inside the app bundle and are not hosted on your own public backend in the current implementation.
How information is used
iSpeakEnglish uses learner information to personalize lessons, save progress, continue the learner journey, schedule optional daily reminders, support optional paid-access flows, generate translated support, produce tutor feedback, and create optional AI-edited souvenir images when the learner chooses that feature.
Based on the current codebase, the app is not built around third-party advertising SDKs and is not intended to sell learner data to data brokers.
User choices and controls
Learners can control device permissions in iOS Settings. They can also turn AI-powered features off in the app’s legal and permissions controls. If AI features are turned off, future voice, translation, and optional image-generation requests should no longer use those remote AI features until the learner enables them again on that device.
Retention and updates
Local learner data remains on the device until it is changed, overwritten, or removed by the user, the app, or iOS. Third-party processors may retain records under their own policies when they are asked to complete a requested feature.
If the app’s data practices change, this privacy policy and the corresponding App Store privacy disclosures should be updated before the updated version is released.
